Washing Park High School Visual Culture Case Study

HerreraDesigns partnered with Washington Park High School (WPHS), part of the Uncommon Schools network, to reimagine its visual culture. After a repaint left the halls feeling plain, the school wanted to restore pride and energy. Our role was to create a culture-led design system that revived school spirit and reflected an environment of joy, rigor, accomplishment, and a commitment to helping others succeed.

The Challenge

Although the school had a fresh coat of paint, the environment felt stripped of energy and connection. The leadership wanted the school’s physical spaces to reflect its values and inspire both students and staff. The community needed more than decoration — it required a visual culture that unified generations of students and faculty, honored its history, and celebrated its future. The challenge was to transform internal documents and mission statements into impactful words and imagery that would resonate with everyone — students, teachers, staff, and parents alike.
